How it works

1) Everyone writes for 10 days in a row. Writing due at around midnight each day.

2) You are either a challenger, or a challengee

I challenge all comers to a writing duel.

Let me put it this way. If you do not join the next ten day writing challenge, you are a punk.

Here's your chance to start the next day of your life out as a creative one. Here's your chance to read other people's writing without feeling obligated.

The mantra is: Shut up and write.

Anyone that participates, wins. Anyone who finishes, changes their life.

The way it works:

Challengers write between 250 and 500 words, 10 days in row

Challengees write their number of challengers x 250 –500 words 10 days in a row.

If you're a timid writer, be a challenger.

If you're a windbag be a challengee.

If you want to start writing as a habit be a challenger.

If you want to kick out a big chunk of that novel or memoir be a challengee.

If you want to fine tune something you've been thinking about, working on for a while, be a challenger.

If you want to knock out that first draft be a challengee.

For example. You want to be a challenger. You write a public message in the tribe that says. “I challenge someone to a writing duel. ”Then a challengee picks you up as one of their competitors.

Meet people, don't be timid.

Or let's say you want to be a challengee, then you say at the beginning, “I will match up to x number of people for ten days. ”

Q: When do we start?

A: The first writing is due Sunday Night 7/10 around midnight.

Q: Do I have to know you (sean) or anyone in the tribe to participate.

A: No. Bring it stranger. Bring it buddy. Just plain Bring it.

Q: When is the writing due?

A: All writing due by 11:59 each day.

Q: What if I'm late, sick, a pussy?

A: If you're late. You suck, but you're in til the end, catch up. If you're sick, suck it up. If you're a pussy, stop being one and write.

Q: What should I write? What's allowed?

A: Anything. Screenplays, Columns, Newspaper articles, stories, plays, poetry, jokes, memoirs, non-fiction, free-writing, stream of consciousness, fiction, erotica, stuff about having sex in a bath of motor oil and dirt, you get the idea. Just shut up and write.

Q: When can I make foolish public statements about how I'm a bad ass for doing this and signing up challengers and challengees?

A: It starts now motherfuckers. It starts now.

Q: Sean, why are you doing this?

A: 81 thousand words, 130 jokes in three writing challeneges words is why I'm doing this. Finally I have some artistic output and actual jokes. Now it's your turn.

What? What? Oh, Fournakis, you want some? I got you right here? Oh you too, Anneke? Yeah I thought so.

Q: Does spelling count?

A: Yes. But not for much. The emphasis is on creative output, not pleasing anal grammaticians.

Q: Should I invite others?

A: Yes.
